  • Standard sessions are 53-60 minutes, although this can vary. Your therapist will work with you to determine the best session length for your needs.

  • The number of sessions varies depending on your goals, concerns, and progress. Some clients see meaningful results within a few sessions, while others engage in longer-term therapy. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine a plan that fits your needs.

  • A resident is a therapist who has already earned their Master’s degree and is accumulating hours toward state licensure. Our residents are in training under supervision and provide high-quality, compassionate care. Working with a resident is often more flexible and may be available at reduced rates. Residents follow the same intake and scheduling procedures as licensed clinicians. They also follow the same ethical and legal requirements.

  • Yes. We offer virtual therapy sessions across Virginia, in addition to our in-office sessions in Virginia Beach. Teletherapy is fully secure and HIPAA-compliant.

  • Your first session is primarily about understanding your current challenges, exploring your goals, and establishing a safe space. Your therapist will collaborate with you to develop a personalized plan for your care.

  • We follow strict HIPAA guidelines to keep your information secure. Sessions, records, and communications are all protected, and only those involved in your care have access to your information.

  • Yes. Your comfort and fit with your therapist are essential for effective therapy. If you feel that a different therapist would better meet your needs, we can help you transition smoothly to another clinician or resident within our practice. We can also provide external referral resources. All requests are handled confidentially and with care to ensure continuity of your care.

  • No. Therapists are trained to maintain robust self-care strategies and engage in containment in order to stay regulated and healthy. While therapists may reflect on their work to improve care, your personal experiences are never shared outside the session, and they do not affect your therapist’s personal life.

  • No. All of our therapists and residents are trained in trauma-informed care and have experience supporting clients with a wide range of life experiences, including crisis intervention. You can share your story safely without fear of judgment or causing harm. Therapy is a space for understanding, processing, and healing — your experiences are welcomed and respected.
