Kim Hudson, M.A.
Resident in Counseling
Anxiety & EMDR Therapist in Virginia Beach
Helping teens and adults navigate anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and life's challenges with compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based care.
A Personal Welcome
Life can become challenging when stress, anxiety, trauma, or difficult life experiences begin to affect the way you see yourself, your relationships, or your ability to enjoy everyday life. You may feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or unsure how to move forward. Whatever has brought you to therapy, you don't have to face it alone.
I believe healing begins in a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. My role isn't to tell you what to do or who you should become. Instead, I work alongside you to better understand your experiences, recognize your strengths, and help you build the skills and confidence needed to create meaningful, lasting change.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and individualized. Every person's story is unique, so I tailor therapy to your specific experiences, goals, and strengths rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable while helping you better understand yourself, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop practical tools for everyday life.
I am fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and enjoy helping clients process traumatic experiences and other distressing memories that continue to affect their present lives. I also incorporate other evidence-based approaches to support healing, emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and greater overall well-being.
Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, depression, relationship challenges, or a significant life transition, my hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel empowered, supported, and better equipped to move toward the life you want to build.

My Approach
Clients often appreciate my compassionate approach and the balance of emotional support and practical guidance I bring to therapy. I strive to create an environment where you feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences while also building the skills and confidence needed to create lasting change.
Trauma-Informed Care
Healing begins with feeling safe. I take a trauma-informed approach that respects your experiences, honors your pace, and creates a supportive environment where meaningful healing can occur.
Practical Growth
Insight is important, but lasting change also requires practical tools. Together, we'll strengthen emotional regulation, improve coping strategies, build healthier boundaries, and develop skills that support resilience both inside and outside the therapy room.
EMDR & Evidence-Based Therapy
When appropriate, I incorporate EMDR to help clients process traumatic experiences and distressing memories that continue to impact their present lives. Treatment is always personalized and may also include other approaches tailored to your goals.

Ready to get started?
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, but you don't have to take it alone. If you're ready to better understand yourself, work through life's challenges, and move toward meaningful change, I'd be honored to be part of that journey.
“Trauma is not what happens to us. Trauma is what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
